Looking Elsewhere (Poem)

Looking Elsewhere

So much stress
on what's to be. Look
around you.
That moment's
gone, and you so focused miss
day just beginning.

I'm participating in the #Trust30 challenge, an online writing/reflection initiative for which a prompt is posted daily. All of the prompts to date are here.

Today's poem, written in Shadorma form (six lines of no or no set rhyme following the 3-5-3-3-7-5 syllabic pattern), is my response to the 17th prompt from brand and business innovator Cindy Gallop:

A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the lustre of the firmament of bards and sages. Yet he dismisses without notice his thought, because it is his. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

My favorite quote of all time is Alan Kay: "In order the predict the future, you have to invent it." I am all about inventing the future. Decide what you want the future to be and make it happen. Because you can. Write about your future now.

All of my responses are in the form of poems. Yesterday, I posted "Pressing It" for the 16th prompt. To read my poem for the 15th prompt and access a list of my poems for prompts 1-14, go here.
