Thought for the Day

The purpose of art is not the release
of a momentary ejection of adrenaline,
but is, rather, the lifelong construction
of a state of wonder and serenity.

i read the quote.......

the purpose of art is different for each person. each person's life that an idea touches, it continues and changes as it continues and changes.

Looks like a fascinating documentary. Need to find it. I loved this:
"These paintings address two fundamental Gouldian themes, the notion of ecstasy and introspection, both being vital ingredients in the production and assimilation of works of art. Gould said that the path of art is always the same, 'from inwardness to lucidity.' How true."

Thanks Maureen.

So true Nance -- we all 'see' a different purpose and experience it differently -- and always, it inspires.

Interesting ideas, and person there, he seemed to play with a great deal of passion and adrenaline.

For myself, I like all kinds of art - art that grabs me by the throat and steals my breathe, art that makes me weep with its beauty, art that I think has left me unmoved, and yet I find myself remembering for months and years to follow.
