Eames Documentary

Charles (1907-1978) and Ray Eames (1912-1988), arguably the most recognized and most important designers of the 20th Century, are the subject of a new documentary Eames: The Architect and The Painter (First Run Features), by Jason Cohen and Bill Jersey. The film, narrated by James Franco, aims to look behind the curtain to reveal the couple's personal lives (they were husband and wife), artistic collaborations, and influence on post-World War II American design. The documentary draws on archival materials (love letters, film clips of the designers at home and at work, and photographs), artifacts from the Venice, California, studio known as "The Eamery", and interviews with family members, architects, and former Eames Office designers.

Here's the trailer for the documentary, which premiered in Los Angeles November 18 and more recently was shown in New York City at the IFC Center

The DVD released on December 13.

They also have a strong connection to St. Louis, which claims them as its own.

Just watched a PBS documentary on Charles and Ray Eames. I wonder if that is different from the movie you refer to? I'll watch for it. It was fascinating! Such unfettered diversity in creative output.
