Monday Muse Writes Adventus (Poem)

Adventus

I could wait:
for the night

to fall in after
the last leaf

has fallen,
the stars to shake

out what glisters
in the moon's

December face,
the clouds to fold

back like curtains
to lift the dark

in which we make
our way, turning

the calendar's pages
on light-short days.

Very light-short days, for sure.

I enjoyed this one, Maureen. Hope all is well!

This struck me, especially as the cold settles in for this slow to arrive winter. So streamlined and yet plunged me down deep. Thank you for sharing this.

I love the word "glisters" ... didn't know it was the original word that we've changed to glitters in "All that glisters is not gold." I always learn so much from you.

i am so ready for the sun to stick around longer than 4pm. it seems that i pull back the curtain, turn around and close it again. i might as well stay in my pj's.

Somehow this seems a bit sad ... perhaps I'm misreading it.

Joyce, yes. When I discovered "glisters" I liked it so much better than "glitters" and it seemed just right for my use here.
