All Art Friday Spotlights

✦ The El Paso Museum of Art has partnered with the city's public library system to create a public research and reference library dedicated to the visual arts, named Algur H. Meadows Library for Algur Hurtle Meados (1899-1978), an entrepreneur, art collector, and arts benefactor. In the collection are more than 4,000 books on American, Mexican, and European art, and as many as 3,000 exhibition catalogues from the last 50 years. Books in the library may be loaned to other libraries but not checked out.

Exhibitions Here and There

✭ More than 100 paintings, drawings, sculptures, and prints by Joan Miro (1893-1983) comprise "Joan Miro: The Ladder of Escape", on view through August 12 at the East Building of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Organized by Tate Modern, London, the exhibition features work from throughout Miro's career, tracing influences on his art and the distinct "vocabulary" and style he developed and made wholly his own. (Be sure to check the sidebar on this exhibition page for related resources and exhibition events.)

✭ Lithographs by the "Swiss Picasso" Hans Erni are on show through July 8 at El Paso Museum of Art.

✭ After visiting The Phillips Collection's Jasper Johns show, "Variations on a Theme", or "Antony Gormley: Drawing in Space", drop by the Tryst cafe to see Brazilian installation artist Sandra Cinto's One Day, After the Rain, intricate ink and acrylic drawings on canvas covering the cafe's walls. Cinto is appearing as part of the museum's innovative Intersections Art Projects. The work, described as tracing the movement of sunrise to nightfall, is intended to be a homage to the Arthur Dove landscapes in the museum's collection and will be on view through December 30. It's terrific. See installation images here

wow! Lalla Essaydi-- what an amazing artist and human being -- wow!

My dream.... to one day have the time to spend all the time I need/want to go through every single link, to visit every single place, installation, idea you present. Now wouldn't that be amazing.

Sometimes I try to imagine how much time you spend creating AAF -- and I am boggled by the idea of what it takes!

You are -- WOW!
