Erin Endicott: Drawing with Thread

It's just a very intimate medium.
~ Erin Endicott, Artist

A member of a family always "making things", emerging artist Erin Endicott calls her contemporary embroideries "drawings with thread" and "soft sculpture". Defined by meticulous hand-stitching, Endicott's work is inspired by nature and, she says, has "many layers of meaning"; it has been exhibited around the United States (including at Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia) and abroad.

Enjoy this brief video introduction to Endicott's work. Images from "Healing Sutra", a series of hand-embroideries on antique fabric, may be viewed here. A statement about the series is here.

Endicott was included in the "Emerging Artists Showcase" section of Fiber Arts published last summer.
