Following are some late summer and early fall poetry readings of interest.
✭ In New Mexico, the literary calendar of The Literary Society of Taos (SOMOS) includes poetry readings by Linda LeGarde Grover and Nabin Kumar Chhetri on September 17.
✭ Poets Cynthia Cruz and Ocean Vuong are scheduled to read September 8 at The PSA Readings at McNally Jackson Books, New York City. The Poetry Society of America event is free. Other New York City poetry readings follow on September 15 (Sharon Olds, Rosenthal Pavilion) and September 22 (Thomas Dooley and Monica Youn, McNally Jackson Books). "A Tribute to C.D. Wright" is planned for October 19 at Proshansky Auditorium, CUNY Graduate Center; in the line-up are poets Carolyn Forche, Brenda Hillman, Ben Lerner, Brenda Shaughnessy, Arthur Sze, Jean Valentine, Anne Waldman, and others.

✭ The fall Reading Series at Kent State University's Wick Poetry Center kicks off September 14 with Stuart Friebert, who has published 14 poetry collections and won numerous awards both for his poetry and his translations. The series continues on October 4 with Adrian Matejka and Leah Osowski.

✭ Ron Charles's excellent series "The Life of a Poet" features an in-depth conversation with Terrance Hayes on September 29 at the Hill Center, located at the Old Naval Hospital, Southeast Washington, D.C. Hayes will read and discuss his work and career with Charles, editor of The Washington Post's BookWorld. The event is free but registration is encouraged. ✭ The Auburn, New York, YMCA-WEEIU Writer's Voice Program plans a "High School Poetry Reading" October 1 at Schweinfurth Art Center. The "11th Annual Fall Poetry Reading" is scheduled for October 16. See Poetry section for details.
