Saturday Short

Today's short is the trailer for What Tomorrow Brings (Principle Pictures, 2015), a film that takes us inside Razia's Ray of Hope at Zabuli Education Center, the first girls' school in an Afghan village where education earlier was denied to females. The documentary begins with the school's establishment in 2009 and concludes with the graduation of the first class in 2015. Featured are not only the stories of the girls and young women allowed to pursue an education but also those of their parents, teachers, school founder (Razia Jan), and community elders.

The 84-minute documentary, from GroundTruth Films producer and director Beth Murphy, was shown at the Woods Hole Film Festival in July of this year and was broadcast on the PBS POV Series on October 31. Its world premiere, in May, was at the Bloor HotDocs Cinema in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
