Sore with chasing
dreams, I scatter
fresh-bought seed
in un-neat rows.
Ravens, wheeling
through cotton clouds,
show me the meaning
of passion
at ground level.

This is a poem for Randoms Act of Poetry sponsored at High Calling Blogs.
Working off four words — sore, scatter, wheeling, passion — I wrote and left this poem in the comments section of L.L. Barkat's post "How to Write a Poem" and then decided today to pull it out and publish it here in its own place.
Anyone may participate in RAP by creating a poem to share. As L.L. suggests, "Just write a sentence with a picture in it. Just choose a few words from another poem to include in your sentence. Break your sentence into lines." Then, drop your link here by Thursday, April 8. And don't forget to read the other contributors' poems.
This is perfect. A perfect picture.

This hit home for me, somehow.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this one. So simple, yet profound. I like the crows and the cotton clouds... the sound of that and the visual contrast and really the mental contrast too.
ReplyDeleteravens and cotton clouds..i can feel and see the contrast in those words
