Saturday Short

Governments don't look at refugees as individuals.
And that's how they become dehumanized.

Today's short is the trailer for No Asylum: The Untold Chapter of Anne Frank's Story (Paradise Filmworks International/YIVO Institute for Jewish Research), a documentary presenting previously unknown details about the Frank family's efforts to secure visas to escape the Nazis. Those details were learned from the discovery of letters by Otto Frank, Anne Frank's father, in the YIVO Institute's archives.

Written by Michael Flores and Paula Fouce and directed by Fouce, the film has been shown at a number of film festivals this year. Among others featured in the documentary are Eva Geiringer-Schloss, Otto Frank's step-daughter and a Holocaust survivor herself, and Buddy Elias, Anne Frank's first cousin and best friend.

The film's world premiere took place at the YIVO Institute in October 2015.
