In the hands of a master, a slab of clay becomes a wonder to behold. This sculpting demonstration, from Philippe Faraut's "The Art of Sculpting with Philippe Faraut Volume 3: Men", shows just what a great sculptor can do in only a matter of minutes.
Take time to browse these wonderful galleries of images of Faraut's portraits in terra cotta, bronze, and marble. His figures, bronzes, stone sculptures, and forensic art show Faraut's versatility. You'll marvel, as I did, at the range of emotions, physical features, and other details in his work.
Faraut, who demonstrates a deep sensitivity to the human form and human expression and an extraordinary knowledge of anatomy, has worked not only in bronze, stone, and clay but also porcelain, wood, and wax.
A list of Faraut's instructional books and DVDs is here.
Additional online video demonstrations include "Sculpting the Art Critic", "Sculpting the Aging Process", "Crazy", "Meth-Amorphosis", and "Before the Devil Has Time". When you have time, come back and watch them all (all but one last less than five minutes; the longest is just over six minutes).

I love how he attacks that clay with such confidence.
Amazing! I love the deftness of his touch. How the sculpture went from male to female, sad to happy back to sad to angry back to happy back to male -- wow!
thanks maureen!
I am so inept with three-dimensional art. I love to watch my daughter, however, who seems to have a natural sense of how to touch and move substance into life.
Wow!! So interesting to watch! What a talent!! It was very cool to see how he sculpts and changes the face and the expressions, make me want to try it sometime too!
Thanks for sharing this!
