✦ The Smithsonian American Art Museum has created with the help of InstaVR a new, interactive, virtual reality app: "Renwick Gallery WONDER 360". Available on iTunes and Google play, the app features 360 panoramas of the marvelous "WONDER" exhibition at the Renwick, artist videos, and more.

✦ Graphic artist Barbara Beisinghoff is artist-in-residence this fall at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York. The subject of a new documentary by Eva Wal, which had its premiere screening at the college, Beisinghoff's Vassar exhibition "When Light Touches Paper" concluded in October. Exhibitions Here and There

✭ Work by picture-book illustrator David Shannon is on view at Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha, Nebraska, through December 31. The exhibition, "David (Shannon) Goes to the Museum", features a selection of artwork from Shannon's award-winning books, including A Bad Case of Stripes, It's Christmas, David!, Too Many Toys, and Pirates Don't Change Diapers

✭ Opened November 4, "Doris Salcedo: The Materiality of Mourning" at Harvard Art Museums, Cambridge, Massachusetts, presents works from 2001 to today by the Bogota-based sculptor and installation artist. Showing publicly for the first time is Salcedo's Flor de Piel (2013), a room-size tapestry (see image at exhibition link). Also on view are Thou-less (2001-2002), a configuration of carved, stainless steel chairs, and pieces from Salcedo's Disremembered series (2014-2016), comprising blouses constructed of handwoven silk threads filled with tiny needles. Coinciding with the exhibition is a monthly screening of Doris Salcedo's Public Works (2015), which documents the artist's site-specific works and public projects. 

An illustrated catalogue (Harvard Art Museums, November 15, 2016) accompanies the exhibition, which continues through April 9, 2017. It includes Salcedo's reflection on her decision to remain working in Colombia. (Also see "Artist Doris Salcedo on Bogota" at The Guardian, July 2016.)

✭ In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is presenting through January 8, 2017, "Paint the Revolution: Mexican Modernism, 1910-1950". Covering the period from the start of the Mexican Revolution to the aftermath of World War II, the exhibition features portable murals, easel paintings, photographs, prints, books, and broadsides, including masterpieces by Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Frida Kahlo, and Rufino Tamayo, as well as works by their contemporaries. ✭ Orlando, Florida's Mennello Museum of American Art is offering three noteworthy exhibitions this fall: "Alice Aycock: Waltzing Matilda and Twin Vortexes", on view through September 2017; "Deborah Butterfield: Horses from Florida Collections", open through January 8, 2017; and "Barbara Sorensen: Recent Acquisitions", also on view through January 8.

Inaugurating "Grounds for Exhibitions", the two large Alice Aycock sculptures have been installed in the Marilyn L. Mennello Sculpture Garden. They originally were part of a series of seven sculptures mounted on Park Avenue in New York City. 

The Deborah Butterfield exhibition presents the artist's signature sculpted horses, including Rory from the Harn Museum of Art; Taylor, loaned by the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts; and Big Timber.

The Barbara Sorensen exhibition showcases Chalice Forest and pieces from the series Boats, as well as other recent acquisitions from Michael A. Mennello's private collection.

✭ The Katonah Museum of Art, Katonah, New York, continues through January 29, 2017, "Matisse Drawings: Curated by Ellsworth Kelly from the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation Collection". From a survey of Matisse's drawings from 1900 through 1950, Kelly selected 45 to display, some for the first time, that reveal artistic process and range. The show is among the last that Kelly worked on before his death in December 2015. It includes in an adjacent gallery Kelly's work from Suite of Plant Lithographs (1964-1966).

An illustrated catalogue, Matisse Drawings (Mt. Holyoke College Art Museum, 2015), featuring an interview with Kelly, Kelly's original installation plan for the exhibition, and images of all the works in the show, is available.
