A Three-Part Christmas Story (Poem)

A Three-Part Christmas Story

Receiving Line

Waiting
soon enough begun
gives way.

A midnight story
spun in threads
the color of straw

Echoes in chambers
of one unblocked heart
after another.

Gift-Giving

His hand
not yet stained

Cups gently
the place of nourishment.

A mother's eyes
hold the lessons
of love and loss.

Morning Reverie

Each new snow flake falls
as the miracle it is
separate and apart.

One among many
reflects the light

To guide us
through the white-out.

I love the simple elegance of these lines. All of them. Reading these poems is like hearing the snow fall.

Maureen ... elegant definitely ... and as beautiful and unique as a snow flake.
