A Powerful Pull
— the limitless blue of cloudless sky,
the progressing of green nudged to be.
Emptiness contains its own space,
wants for no time to fill nor shape to form,
lets you strip down to nothing
to feel nothing
but the powerful pull of possibility.

I wrote this poem for the Tuesday, June 1, Blog Carnival sponsored by Bridget Chumbley at One Word at a Time and Peter Pollock of Rediscovering the Church.
The Blog Carnival is a biweekly online event open to anyone. Participants write on a one-word prompt or topic. This week's is "emptiness".
At Bridget's place you'll find a list of links to all of the contributions, which are posted throughout Tuesday and often through to the end of the week.
The Blog Carnival's FaceBook page is here.
The prompt for the next Blog Carnival, on June 15, is "compassion".

"Emptiness contains its own space" -- a great line, full (not empty) of all kinds of ideas. Love this poem, Maureen.
that same line caught me, "emptiness contains its own space"....

'the progressing of green nudged to be' gardener's hope.
You never cease to amaze me with the power you can pack into such a short space. Thanks Maureen.

just right
If the Blog carnival was a contest, this poem should certainly win - if nothing else, for your line of "emptiness contains its own space" and then comparing that with the powerful pull of possibility.
Powerful truths here.
These words also struck me...
but the powerful pull of possibility
Thanks for another wonderful post, Maureen.
"emptiness contains its own space"

Hi M.-- I really like this. It makes me think of Linda Gregg's The Apparent, which is in Poetry's archives. I wrote a derivation I'll share some time.
This is a great prompt. Thinking of a prompt thread on our group. And, thinking of you! xxxj
what Glynn said - and i know that ending intimate.
"the powerful pull of possibility" I like that. It give a whole new perspective to emptiness. Thank you.
Love this poem, Maureen! I wish I had read it before my last blog post. I'd love to figure out how to use it in a future post, if you're willing. Thanks for the inspiration!
