Contemplative Photography as an Act of Faith

Through her art, my friend and blog sister Diane Walker  "find[s] a way to hold the space for everything". That space encompasses deep spirituality and a profound appreciation for beauty.

Diane, otherwise known as the "Contemplative Photographer", recently made a presentation, "Contemplative Photography as an Act of Faith",  at Seattle University's Pacific Northwest Spirituality Book Festival, the theme for which was "Search for Meaning". For those of us unable to attend her talk, Diane created a video presentation in which she discusses her approach to contemplative photography and reads selections of her poetry that she has paired with her marvelous images (see Diane's Contemplative Photography and Contemplative Poetry sites, as well as Diane Walker Photos).

The video runs just over 23 minutes. It's a wonderful introduction to Diane and her always inspiring work.

Exhibitions director for ECVA, a national arts organization, Diane has published a number of books, including Illuminating the Mystery: Photographic Reflections, Inspiration for the Journey: Aspects of the Divine Feminine, and A Contemplative Photographer's Alphabet, all available here.

This explains a great deal ...

Her images are strong in their soft quietness.

Maureen,

Thank you for sharing this beautiful YouTube video of Diane's presentation. I actually ended up using it as my own meditation this a.m. Quite lovely.
