Chemistry professor Martyn Poliakoff of the School of Chemistry at Nottingham University, United Kingdom, was promised an unusual birthday present by the  Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Centre, but only if he'd donate a hair from his head. Watch the video below to see how that strand of hair came to be imprinted with what may be the world's tiniest periodic table.

Um, and the reason to put a periodic table on his hair?

Oh right. Because they can!

Like climbing a mountain, because it's there!

Quite... fascinating.

Definitely a unique birthday gift.
