In Song for Love Gone Deep
You carry blues off
a beat, out of synch,
still apron-stringed-tied,
labored in song
for love gone deep
in your wintering eyes.

Reminds me of my mom. She cares for my ailing dad. Beautiful
Your timing in this one is perfect. I loved the break after the first line, "off/ a beat."
Yes, beautiful. Love "apron-stringed-tied."
Maureen -- your poetry always sings to my heart, resonating deep into my soul.
this is beautiful.
Just lovely. Love, all grown up!
mmm...lyrical maureen and it def carries a servants story to me...
Your poems speak to my heart ... every time.
Wonderful poem, really liked the concise deliverance to this, lovely work! xoxo
it feels like the blues
haunting yet healing
i can relate to this
sad. I do love your sad poems though.
Sometimes a poem doesn't need to be one word longer. Fine one, Maureen.(And thanks for the kind words at my place.)
many layers in these few lines. well done!

sweet write... like a song
"apron-string-tied" to me doesn't speak to a woman and man's relationship. It's the wrench of a mother and child. And what is deeper than cutting those ties or more out of synch? Well explored here and as always, fine write, Maureen.
"You carry blues off
a beat"....Very nice line and opening...can go so many places from there....thank you...bkm
Really like wintering eyes.
Neat, tight, clever and beautiful. Love it.
this is another tight poem Maureen, but I sense the apron strings were tied loosely to meander off beat a bit.
This makes me think of a saying I sometimes put in my work--
Ay Corazon, que te vas...para nunca volver....
Oh heart, where are you going, that you never return...
But we know that love's labor, even its hardest, isn't for naught.... beautiful. xj
A gem precisely cut, marvelous for its color and tanatalizing for its facets that invite continous gazing as you turn and enjoy the shifting dance of light from its facets.
