Thursday, October 3, was National Poetry Day in the United Kingdom. This beautifully animated short by Leo Crane, founder of London Animation Studio, popped up on my reader in celebration. It's a minute-and-a-half of loveliness that deserves to be seen and shared widely.
The film's sound is by Andrew Hayes. The poetry for the animation is drawn from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", work shortlisted for the Forward Prizes (see the poems at the link (pdf) for Jacob Polley, Marianne Burton, Hannah Lowe, and Michael Symmons Roberts), and children's poems by Roger McGough and Rachel Rooney (Frances Lincoln Children's Books).

Forward Arts Foundation is the organizer of National Poetry Day. The 2013 theme was "water water everywhere".

What a fun video. The little fish reminded me of hands.
