In the video below, writer, spoken word poet-performer, and arts educator Elizabeth Acevedo recites her poem "Beloved, Or If You Are Murdered Tomorrow". The timely poem needs no further introduction.
Acevedo, a Cave Canem Fellow and winner of the 2016 Women of the World Poetry Slam, is the author of the forthcoming Blessed Fruit & Other Origin Myths (September 2016), a finalist for the Yes Yes Books chapbook poetry prize. Acevedo's work has appeared in numerous literary periodicals, including Acentos Review, Beltway Quarterly, Callaloo, Madcap Review, The Notre Dame Review, Ostrich Review, and Poet Lore.
