Kate Rothko on Mark Rothko

I recently read Annie Cohen-Solal's Mark Rothko: Toward the Light in the Chapel (Yale University Press, 2015). In the biography, Cohen-Solal references a film by Maria Teresa de Vito, About My Father Mark, about painter Mark Rothko (1903-1970). I was able to find the video online. In Part 1, below, the artist's daughter Kate Rothko talks about her father and his work while visiting a major Rothko exhibition in 2007-2008 at Palazzo dell Esposizioni in Rome, Italy. The exhibition was curated by Oliver Wick and produced by PalaExpo and Artemisia.

Part 2, in which Kate Rothko discusses her father's black-on-grey paintings, follows:

Also of interest is Christopher Rothko's discussion of The Artist's Reality by Mark Rothko. Watch Part 1 and Part 2, also filmed by Maria Teresa de Vito. Christopher Rothko edited his father's manuscript, The Artist's Reality: Philosophies of Art, which was published by Yale University Press years after the artist's death in 1970. Mark Rothko also was the author of Writings on Art, also published by YUP.
