Catching Up with Artist Watch Artists 2

Following is the second in a periodic series about the careers and recent activities of artists I have showcased in my monthly Artist Watch column at the online arts magazine Escape Into Life. Congratulations to all on their many successes!

Trine Bumiller, Denver and Fraser, Colorado (August 15, 2013, Artist Watch) ~ Trine is part of the group show "Colorado Women in Abstraction" on view at the Center for Visual Art at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Curated by art critic and author Michael Paglia, the exhibition brings to attention the paintings, sculpture, and installation work of women artists "who have been influential in the abstract movement of Colorado." The show, which opened July 15, concludes on October 1. An artist panel moderated by Paglia is scheduled for August 25, 6:30 p.m.; Denver Art Museum curator Gwen Chanzit will give a lecture on "Women in Abstract Expressionism: A Curator's View" on September 13, 6:30 p.m.

See a selection of Trine's series 100 Paintings for 100 Years, the result of her 2014 residency at Rock Mountain National Park. The paintings were shown at Denver's McNichols Building in 2015. An increasing number of collectors are acquiring Trine's wonderful work.

Patrick Palmer, United Kingdom (January 30, 2014, Artist Watch) ~ Patrick's work was in "Form: A Figurative Show" at Box Galleries, a group exhibition that closed August 10. One of Patrick's beautiful paintings graces the cover of Musings of Miss Yellow (Authorpress, 2015), a poetry collection by Indian poet and writer Supriya Kaur Dhaliwal. His work has been showcased several times on Saatchi.

Maggie Matthews, West Cornwall, United Kingdom  (September 17, 2015, Artist Watch) ~ Maggie's lovely mixed media on canvas recently were showcased in "Maggie Matthews — Colour and Light", a solo exhibition at Cornwall Contemporary. The series of Cornish landscapes demonstrates Maggie's deep interest in the effects of color and light in nature. Maggie also was represented at this year's Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead, London; and she has added another gallery, Clifton Contemporary, to her list or art representatives.
