Taking Leave
for M.L.
He asked,
What will you have
on New Year's Eve?
Two eggs over
on cinnamon toast,
bacon on the side.
Simple enough.
Satisfying enough.
She didn't count
on the pan
going missing.

Oh...
That cracked me up. Thanks for the morning laugh. But now I'm hungry.
Ahh, those missing pans.
Today, I am missing...
nothing.
Today, I am whole.
Today, I journeyed over to Abby of the Arts (thank you) and wrote my word.
Redemption.
It is a word I 'hate'. Too religious. Too 'Christian'. Too restrictive.
I know what I dislike about the word.
This year, I will find the loveliness of its embrace within me.
Thank you Dear Friend. You light me up! (Crack me up too!)
I am so smiling. Well, my oven burned up on New Year's. I'll count that as much the same.
Happy, Happy, Maureen. You have blessed.
surprise ending.
oh, i find that poem very provocative... must be a good one :-0
Wonderfully written Maureen. In the midst of the enjoyment and the laugh you have added some depth with your words... "Simple enough./Satisfying enough./...the pan/going missing...
deceptively simple, so nicely done :-)
